Project Background

We started the VR GO project because we believe that personal stories can change the world, motivate, and give hope. The basis for the project was a story of a real person who inspires with his tenacity and strives to help people with disabilities.
In 2010, during a ski trip, I suffered a spinal injury and lost the ability to walk. After the surgery, the neurosurgeon said that to speed up recovery, I needed to mentally move my legs. It was difficult because I was immobilized for a long time and my brain didn't remember how to walk.

While I was going through rehabilitation, I studied different technologies and came across a VR headset. I had an idea to transfer the thoughts of movement out of my head to virtual reality, but I didn't understand how to implement it because I didn't have any experience in doing this.

And a technology like this was expensive. In 2017, I participated in the hackathon "Cyber Russia", where the project won a money prize. The first prototype was made with funds from the hackathon. I faced the challenge of creating a product that embodied the idea in a short period of time, with minimum technology possible.

Over time, a team was formed around the project. I met people at different events, startup accelerators, and exhibitions, looked at them, reflected on whether they were interested in my project and how they could help it. In short, I was looking for like-minded people.

The first one to help was Maxim—my friend, whom I trust with everything and a person with extensive business experience. At the beginning of 2019, German joined the team. We met during one of the startup accelerators.

Project Team

At the forum U-NOVUS 2019, we met Kristina Aparina, who holds a Masters in psychology from Tomsk State University. She got interested in the project.

Our team wants to provide people with a technology that can bring them back to their former healthy state.

I had a personal motive to join the project, which was helping a friend who was in trouble. Our common goal is to make the project affordable and useful to people.

Our solution is no panacea. It goes hand in hand with traditional methods of rehabilitation; thereby, causing a synergistic effect and increasing the speed of recovery.
